I liked ZE:A at the time they debuted. But... it seems they're going a bit off track with their cutesy songs and so on. If i could have chosen the title track, i would have chosen track 4. Track 4 although may pass as a simple song, if paired with an impressive MV, it has potential to be more successful than the above title track. That's my opinion :)

A new boy group. I think this HITT is trying to promote their vocals instead. Somehow, there is something lacking. Their songs don't stand out and their voices are not strong enough. I think W & Whale is getting mixed reviews. Her style of music is electronic pop and she has quite a good voice. If she sang regular songs, i think she would be a great singer. Ok... how do i say this nicely... I will get whooped by readers if i do offend lol. Bubble Pop well, after trying to review this song and the mv, i've been listening to it a few few times. I don't mind the song MINUS those strange noises that she makes (and also in other songs). She's not the best singer but her company is doing a good job promoting her... um.... her sex appeal. Ok, this is where the MV comes in. Yep, shakin that ass, throwing that forced clevage in our faces, a bra or bra strap to be seen in almost every shot... no comment. Besides from that, the mv has a summer feel fit for the song. I think Hyuna does well what she does best and that's rapping as you will notice in track 5.

Block B's back! Been keeping an eye out on them since their first debut. I gotta say that Cho PD is doing a great job with this group. I don't usually say this but Block B members have talent that's for sure. Especially their main rapper. Their target audience i feel, a bit different from mainstream. I was impressed with their first release (also added into this mini album, tracks 4,5 & 6). When i heard the title track of this new mini album, i was a little disappointed. It's more a lighter track compared to their previous tracks. I was afraid they might, like other groups, turn all into cute pop and so on :O When you listen closely to the title track, what is good is the beats. If you can't get into their title track here, i suggest try tracks 4,5,6 first. Ah, also, their company is not cheapo with MVs. Their MVs are so far of high quality lol.

The title is a very simple yet repetitive track. I assume they're targeting club goers with this song. It does catch on. In track 3, i think it's the first time i've heard proper rap from 2PM. But anyways, i haven't yet listened to this whole album properly yet. The album seems quite good. Their stage performance also was lively and entertaining.

First, let me just say that the album art is awful... It does none of them justice. Secondly, I enjoy listening to this mini album. Especially the title track! 8eight's music has a fresh feel all the time. It must be the three unique voices of the members. Very different from what you get out there nowadays^^ I was surprised with track 5 where Baek Chan sings in a really high voice haha. They're trying something different and that's nice to see! Love all their voices!

MC Mong denied military duty

MC Mong, the rapper who was accused of pulling his teeth to avoid military service, cannot serve in the military - even if he wants to, according to a ruling issued yesterday.

The Government Legislation Office said that even though MC Mong, whose real name is Shin Dong-hyun, is willing to go into active duty, it is not possible because he has already been placed in the second tier of the military since he’s over the age of 31. People in the second tier serve in non-active duty.

“It is not possible for him to serve in active duty, and our ruling is not based on whether the candidate himself is willing to serve in or not,” the Office said in its ruling.

The Military Manpower Administration had asked the Government Legislation Office to determine whether MC Mong could still serve in the military after a court ruled in April that he had deliberately evaded his mandatory military service by deferring service six times and having 12 teeth pulled by five dentists.

The Seoul Central District Court in April sentenced MC Mong to six months in jail on charges of deliberately delaying military enlistment on false grounds. But the court cleared him of the charge that he had intentionally pulled out his healthy teeth just to be exempted from military duty.

Big Bang's GD&TOP to stop using Playboy logo

Playboy magazine of the United States has belatedly found out that GD&TOP, a K-pop duo consisting of two members from Big Bang, used its bunny logo without its approval and recently asked YG Entertainment, Big Bang’s management firm, to stop using it.

According to a Wednesday posting on YG’s home page, Playboy brought into question the rabbit symbol on the cover of the GD&TOP’s album, which was released on Dec. 24 last year.

“The rabbit logo on the album was inspired by rabbit ears - as a celebration of the Year of the Rabbit in 2011 - combined with V of Victory,” said the posting, adding the logo was “based on the Playboy bunny.”

The management firm also admitted that it hadn’t sought permission from Playboy. “We are accepting the request from Playboy magazine and will immediately stop selling albums with the logo on them. We also plan to release a new album design by the end of July.”

Kim Jo Han to join '"I Am A Singer"

One of the most popular shows on Korean TV these days is "I'm A Singer". Any star that performs on the show become household names...again. The newest addition? Kim Jo-han, former member of the ever-so-popular group fo the 90's, Solid.

Kim's first shooting will be July 4th, set to be aired on the 10th. Considered to be one of the best R&B singers in k-pop, Kim's more than just a singer. He's considered the expert, the trainer, the godfather of R&B.

Only time will tell if his experience will be enough to win over the votes on the show.

Truthfully, I'm not a Hyuna fan, she scares me haha. But i do recognize she raps well in some songs. When i first listened to this song, the rap felt a bit out of place but the well written lyrics make up for it. I guess when you listen to this song on replay, it starts to flow and make sense. Hyuna's rapping portrays the girl's feelings whilst Jun Hyung's rap is the guy side. What i think is strange is that... if you listen to this song, you would automatically assume it's G.NA's song because her voice is very distinct and she has the most singing time. Overall, a good song!

G.O! I've liked him since his TYKEYS days. Here he is the first of the five MBLAQ members to release a solo single. This song is about a man who wants to return back to his girlfriend who has left him. It's a ballad R&B track that has soft instrumentals. It's actually quite nice. I remember watching him on the idol singing show 'Immortal Song 2'. Although he didn't get top spot, i thought he did really well. Only problem was his performance. Since he was singing a ballad on the show, he was just standing there and singing - unlike other artists who had stage performance prepared and so on. Some people may think that because he is from a pop group, he may not sing well. If you do listen to TYKEYS songs (in my mp3 list), you'll notice he's not bad :)

What do you guys think? Just as confused as i am? haha

I'm only going to post the two main new songs of this album. Let's just say it's quite retro LOL.

At first when i heard the title track, i was like.... omg.... what happened to T-ara! They're trying to bring back the 80's disco music~ Well... when you actually watch this with the music video, it's quite funky and different. I'm still not sure myself. The song is upbeat and catchy once it catches on.

About the girls, Jiyeon was fantastic. Her expression in the beginning of the mv is priceless. As for Soyeon, seeing her progress through her T-ara days, she has become more out going and confident and that's good to see. Hyomin - we can't go wrong with her! She's great! Eunjung... truthfully, i think her dodgy roles in dramas have made her shine wear off. I used to like her when they first debuted but i don't know... she just doesn't stand out to me anymore. Boram is really short compared to all the girls! I can't help but notice every time. I used to think she was awkward in the group, now i still think so too. Qri.. the poor girl needs more promotion, people barely know her! Lastly, Hwayoung.. Truthfully, i don't understand why the company added her in. They can barely fit all the girls onto the one screen when filming the MV! Not to be mean but with or without her, i wouldn't have noticed. In general, i think T-ara is heading off track. They were doing well in the early days but now that they've moved into a different genre of music, something's not quite right.

Hm... Okie dokies! That's my wrap up. Just my opinion. Hope you guys don't get offended. I still think these girls have potential for something better~

Work Is Biggest Cause of Stress

Koreans are growing increasingly stressed and less happy with their lives, according to a study. The Korean Neuropsychiatric Association interviewed 1,000 adult Koreans this year and found that 26.2 percent suffer from high levels of stress while scoring 68.1 points on the happiness scale, which is a failing grade.

◆ Job Stress

Problems in the workplace are the greatest source of stress, according to the study, especially among young men. "Unlike home, the workplace is a source of constant stress," said Jeong Do-un, a neurologist at Seoul National University Hospital. "Job-related stress seems especially common among men, since they're mostly the breadwinners and young men feel pressure as they have to compete to survive in a tough job market."

Experts say advances in communications technology have made people's personal matters more accessible to others, and that increases stress levels even more.

◆ High Suicide Rate

Stress can lead to suicide. Korea already has the highest suicide rate in the world, and the trend is growing worse. Four students at the prestigious Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology committed suicide already this year due to academic pressure, and a professor at the school also took his own life.

Experts say spring is the season for suicides, due to changes that happen to many people during that transition period. People suffering from excessive stress are advised to consult a physician.

◆ Exercise

Most people in the study cited exercise, drink, chat, or sleep as things they do to relieve stress. Men tend to drink, while women usually prefer talking to friends. But 48.3 percent of the adults in the study said they cope with stress by themselves. Experts recommend sharing problems and worries. Jeong at SNU Hospital said, "The best way to get rid of stress is to move your body. People who exercise regularly have a better chance of overcoming stress than those who don't."

Korean Makeup Trends Find Global Following

First there were TV dramas and K-pop, and now Korean makeup style is becoming a global fad. Already the makeup styles of Korean actresses and young pop groups influence fashions in China, Japan and Southeast Asia, where the Korean Wave first started, but recently American and European women, too, have been learning the techniques on YouTube, which features hundreds of videos promising to reveal Korean "beauty secrets."

◆ What Is the Appeal?

Beauty expert Lee Kyung-sun says the videos started being uploaded from all over the world about three years ago. In the early stages it was mostly Malaysian, Filipino, Thai and Taiwanese women who posted videos on how to make up like Kim Yu-na, Song Hye-kyo and Kara, but now the trend is expanding to the U.S. and Europe.

Another beauty consultant said, "What foreigners are especially interested is Korean women's natural-looking skin and one-point technique that highlights just one part of the face. They want to emulate the Korean style of light makeup that leaves the skin looking natural, rather than slathering thick makeup all over the face."

◆ From Test Market to Trend Leader

U.S. channel WNBC's program "Extra" reported in September last year that Korean makeup techniques were embraced by many Hollywood stars. Now, large cosmetics companies in the U.S. and Europe are recognizing Korea as a leader in beauty trends, a shift from the country's traditional image as a test market. A spokesman of cosmetics brand MAC said, "Until two or three years ago, Korea was simply regarded as a country where we test new products before the official launch as it has a huge demand for cosmetics goods, but now things have changed and we think that we should read trends in Korea first."

MAC's Studio Fix Fluid Foundation N18 and Behave Yourself Lipstick were launched after studying the reaction from Korean women. Beauty consultant Pi Hyun-jeong said, "Wherever in the world I go, I get questions about the secrets of Korean women's natural-looking beauty. I think Korea can look to the position of a global beauty trend leader like Paris and New York."

Domestic cosmetics brands have been riding the wave of this popularity, holding promotional events and makeup demonstrations in China, Japan and several Southeast Asian regions, while planning to launch or expand new branches in U.S. and Europe.

Not only makeup trends but also clothing trends. It's soooo weird. Some girls are so into Korean fashion and makeup that you can actually mistaken them as Korean but once they open their mouths to speak, another language comes out. SS501's Kim Hyung Jun Makes Front Page News in Indonesia

Kim Hyung Jun, the youngest member of boy band SS501, is enjoying explosive popularity in Indonesia and other parts of Asia, proof that the Korean Wave is still going strong.

Some three months after Kim Hyung Jun released his solo album, "My Girl," the singer was featured on the front page of the Sunday Post, the weekend edition of Indonesia's influential daily Jakarta Post. This came one day after he appeared with other Korean singers in the Fantastic K-POP Concert in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, "My Girl" ranked No. 1 in the Taiwanese music charts shortly after its release in March, and 1,200 tickets for the singer's recent concert in Singapore, the first leg of his Asian tour, immediately sold out.

A local staffer who handled the weekend concert said that Hyung Jun has been gaining a steady fan base in Indonesia. He was chosen by the newspaper ahead of the other singers who performed at the same concert, suggesting that he enjoys greater face value, the staffer said.

Hyung Jun will continue his Asian tour next month with gigs in Hong Kong on July 17 and in Taiwan the following week.

SHINee Shine in Japanese Charts

Korean boy band SHINee's Japanese debut is off to a promising start. The band released their Japanese debut single "Replay" on June 22, and it sold 91,000 copies in the first week, ranking second in the Oricon Weekly Single Chart dated July 4.

That is the most successful performance ever by a Korean band in Japan.

Other Korean boy bands have come second in the Japanese charts, such as Beast with "Shock," MBLAQ with "Your Love" and Super Junior with "Bonamana," but SHINee is the first to achieve sales of nearly 100,000 copies in the first week. Oricon said SHINee's debut single sold 91,000 copies in the first week, surpassing the record for a Korean group of 59,000 copies by Super Junior.

Meanwhile, SHINee made a headline in June 19 when they became the first Asian musicians to give a live performance at the famous Abbey Road Studio in London.

Grim news: Big Bang member Daesung found guilty in deadly car crash

A member of boy band Big Bang has been found liable for the death of a motorcyclist last month.

Kang Dae-sung (22) was arrested after an accident on Yanghwa Bridge in northwestern Seoul in the early hours of May 31.

According to autopsy results released Friday, the victim, surnamed Hyun, had been lying on the ground for a little over two minutes after crashing into a lamppost when Daesung's car hit him and dragged his body for over 20 m.

The victim was intoxicated at the time of the accident and Daesung was sober, but he was driving his Audi sedan at 80 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

The K-Pop idol could face up to five years in prison or a fine of up to W20 million (US$1=W1,087).

Poor guy... 20 million won for the death of a person is nothing... If Daesung gets 5 years, gosh... there goes Big Bang and there goes his life. I guess he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Still i think the motorcyclist is to shoulder most of the blame for being intoxicated in the first place. Daesung was just unlucky to be there when it happened.

This was released in May but just want to share with you all. Really beautiful song. Code V had actually debuted under the name 'Bless' but was unable to receive much recognition. They therefore changed their name to 'Code V' hoping for more success. Unfortunately, still, not many people know of them :( Give this ballad song a try~ I've been listening to it on replay a million times already. It's actually a full length album but this is the title and standout song :D
